Testing

The unique thing about manufacturing personal care products in the United States is that there aren't as many restrictions as there are with food. For instance, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn't really regulate personal care products, so there isn't much testing that you will have to do in order to legally get them on the market.

However, if you do want to have an organic label on your products, then you may have to meet a few different requirements in order to get that seal of approval. 

Manufacturing

Meeting with your manufacturer for the first time can really help you bring your personal care products to life. During your first several meetings, you will go over a variety of different things, including product ingredients, labels, and packaging. Once you have everything narrowed down, your manufacturer should give you a rough estimate regarding how long it will take to start to get things on the shelves. 

When you go to manufacture your personal care products, you can typically have them manufactured in the same factory as other similar products. While they aren't going to use the same ingredients, if you are using a similar ingredient as other personal care products, it makes it easier for the manufacturer to get things done. For instance, if you are putting collagen into a serum that you are making, the manufacturer may make it within the same factory as other collagen products. 

Marketing

Once you have everything manufactured, you need to work either on your own or with a marketing company to help get your products on shelves or into the hands of influencers. Your marketing team will do everything from creating online marketing campaigns such as Facebook and Instagram ads to meeting with different store buyers as well.
